INSTRUMENT MANAGER™
Data Innovations' Instrument Manager (IM) is an instrument and LIS independent connectivity and data management system that enables laboratories to work more efficiently than ever. It can be used as a data management solution that stands between the instruments or medical devices and the information system, filling those important gaps in functionality between the two, as a connectivity solution that eases the burden on your laboratory information system, as a stand-alone small information system, and more.

Instrument Manager™ Base System

Instrument Manager is a Windows-based, MDI model, software product, using a Visual Basic front end and a Caché database. There is no proprietary hardware needed for IM, giving you the choice of using your own hardware, or receiving a turnkey system, including all needed hardware and cables.
Instrument Manager is able to maintain up to 128 concurrent connections, simultaneously supporting a wide variety of transport mechanisms such as TCP/IP, LAT, and RS232. Its ability to use multiple protocols concurrently, including industry standards HL7 and ASTM, emulation and proprietary protocols, make IM the most versatile interfacing engine in the industry. Instrument Manager offers the user the ability to route data coming into IM on any connection, to one or more outbound connections, enabling multiple hosts to receive the same instrument data. With the powerful user-defined mapping feature IM can translate data from one type of incoming protocol to a different outgoing protocol. IM offers test-code, error-code, and fluid-code mapping, easing the burden on your LIS.
Instrument Manager's data is stored on the hard drive, allowing for virtually unlimited capacity. This allows for the buffering of many messages, large query databases, and the retention of sizeable amounts of data. Messages are not in volatile memory; therefore, they can be held until the receiving system or device is ready for them, preventing any loss of data.
Instrument Manager boasts a library of over 500 drivers, connecting hospital information systems, laboratory instruments, point of care analyzers, automation systems, and more. Instrument Manager has extensive end user tools for monitoring and debugging communications.
Instrument Manager supports any language by enabling the user to customize included language tables. Any number of languages may be utilized on the system, including different languages for different users.
Instrument Manager has a full user security system, making it possible for sites to be HIPAA compliant. An unlimited number of users and their privileges can be defined. Users may be restricted by instrument, menu level access, or screen level functionality.
Instrument Manager includes easy-to-use, graphically illustrated help files and PDF user manuals that can be printed or viewed online. Everything from installing your software to setting it up has been carefully documented. Our library of drivers has also been carefully documented, including everything from how to wire your own cables to how to configure each instrument's specific driver setting.
